Despite all the sharing about health and wellness, here’s a post a little about what’s going on in my life…

Let’s get this started…

What we are eating this week…

Since it’s fully winter outside here in the midwest, we are enjoying hot, warm meals inside. While last night we had some comfort food, we’ve been mixing it up this week with healthier options that are still yummy- such as stir-fry, Italian turkey veggie bowls, and healthy soups and stews. If you would like these recipes, comment below. 🙂

Otherwise right now I’m eating THIS for breakfast this morning. It has become a new favorite on my breakfast rotation because it’s quick, easy, and healthy- and made in advance.

What I’m reminiscing about…

My friends in Ohio and New York. When I reminisce about anything, it’s almost always them.

What I’m loving…

My schedule. I’m juggling lots of different projects and responsibilities, and the multitasking and flexibility motivates me. I’m teaching part-time at the University, serving as a wellness coach at the wellness center, and also loving my time with Be Well Wellness… while being with my kids. I’m using all my passions and strengths, but using them all in different ways. Sometimes I have to be cautious of how many responsibilities I’m juggling and commitments I take on, but right now I think I’ve hit my sweet spot. I know what it’s like to work outside the home, juggle family/life/work/etc… and I’m still doing all of that, it just looks a little different now.

Also it’s snowing!! When it comes to cold and snow, I would much rather have the snow than cold. I enjoy the snow. Cold? Not so much. So yesterday and today is perfect- about 12″ of snow and 30 degree temps. Now that’s some winter weather. We all went outside and enjoyed it. If you follow me on IG, then you saw these yesterday (@wellfithappy).

So while we had a bunch of snow fall within the last 24 hrs, it looks like a beautiful, winter wonderland outside. And here in the upper midwest, these convenient, strong, “little” bobcats clear all the snow around the community. My children LOVE it when they see a bobcat go by. And if he honks, they shriek in excitement! #littlejoys

What we’ve been up to…

Honestly, being indoors. It’s wintertime here in the upper midwest so typically unless we are bundled up inside, we are finding things to do inside or going somewhere inside.

  • We do crafts, baking, and lots of building things.
  • I even blew up a bouncy house in the basement because #momwin. I never expected how helpful this would be for us in the wintertime. It was well worth the money. I would buy it again in a heartbeat. Here’s an example {click here}.
  • I’ve also tried to include them in some yoga or exercising at home so it can be a winwin for both parent and child.
  • We have “quiet times” where everyone finds books to read or color, or whatever, to have a break.
  • Lastly, we’ll watch a movie.

What I’m dreading…

I don’t know if there’s anything I’m dreading right now.

What I’m working on…

I’m teaching and prepping for my classes, but I also have a Wellness Presentation this Thursday night at the USD Wellness Center (free! come and attend!), so I’m finalizing that presentation and it’s focused on College Student Wellness. (My next presentation there is focused on Adult Wellness). And lastly, I’m investing more time and energy into Be Well Wellness because I just have a passion for health and wellness, and spreading my knowledge to others. In the next few days and weeks, I’m going to be sharing some really really exciting stuff with you.

What I’m excited about…

This is going to sound corny, but it’s honest. I’m excited how I’m taking action on new, refreshed goals and what that looks like. Leaving fear behind and pushing forward. There’s a momentum you can get when change happens and with all the changes happening in the last year, I’m continuing with the momentum. It’s a freeing feeling and I’m so energized about adventuring onto another new path.

What I’m watching/reading…

Right now I’m watching This Is Us on NBC. I just can’t get enough of that show. I love it.

I’m also reading A Man Called Ove {link} and even though I just started, I’m loving the book already and I would already recommend the book to you.

What I’m listening to…

In my house, with children, it’s either silent or loud and crazy. At this very moment it’s quiet and I’m enjoying it.

What I’m wearing…

Whether I’m sweating and moving around, or I’m teaching and working outside the home, or I’m just playing with my kids inside, I feel like I go through so many clothes during the day. But I will tell you that I went grocery shopping this week at Walmart and I found a pair of $10 leapord leggings.

What else is new…

I had a meeting this morning and spoke with upperclassmen students about their desires and need to find internships in the fields of health, exercise, wellness, fitness, sport, etc. I’ll be supervising their internships this summer (as I’ve supervised dozens and dozens of interns in the past), and I always get so energized talking to young adults. They have so much to offer. So I’m excited about that new adventure as well.

*So therefore, if you are someone in health, wellness, fitness, corporate wellness, sport, etc, industry and you would entertain an intern- and we are not connected right now- let me know. I may have some interested students. Note: These internships can be anywhere in the world and there’s a lot of flexibility.

Thanks for stopping by. I have some fun things to share the rest of this week!

Have a great day!

Laura
