In a nut shell, I’ve been teaching (and subsequently, “coaching” and encouraging, guiding and supporting) others in health and wellness for over five years full time, in
person. For five years, I’ve been doing it in higher ed (and continue to). Before that, I worked in the community with a greater number of adults to change behaviors.
Then I moved to South Dakota and I ached to help people again in my new location, but I was still
transitioning and figuring this new “life after moving with my family” thing.
Even though I have now partnered with the University of South Dakota and I am
spearheading their Wellness Coaching Program as their lead wellness coach to
help individuals make greater health gains (which is awesome- totally awesome), I wanted to reach more people than those geographically
around me. I really felt this need to do something else.
Hence, online.
A friend of mine was
a new online coach and she was helping others with changing their nutrition and fitness lifestyle and people were changing lives.
And I thought, “Man, I could do that.”
But guess what happened?
I let fear creep in.
Stupid fear.
Could I be just as
effective online as I am in person with helping others?
What if I fail?
What if I just put
myself “out there”? What would happen?
After pondering and really, too much over-anayzing, I just did it. Screw it, I’m just going to
do it.
  • Who cares if I failed? At least I tried and it would be for the purpose of helping others.

  • Helping others is just about caring, right? Caring about
others regardless of the subject, right? Well there was no doubt that I cared. That has been a passion for me in my field. I enjoy helping others, encouraging others towards greater health/wellness/fitness.

  • And putting myself “out there”? Goodness, I wanted people to know that personally, I have to commit and recommit to my
health every single day, just like them. Every day is a new day, and it takes patience and persistence.

  • I wanted to help others but I also wanted instant
accountability and community for me. Because it’s a two-way street. A support
    system is a giving circle.

Well let me tell you, I’m only one month in and I am so
excited about this new adventure. SO excited. I decided to jump in and TRY. So now, I’m helping even more people (myself included) as we all push each other to greater accountability in our lifestyles. It’s like we are all on this Health Boat and I’m the Captain (roll with me). I’m guiding the boat, spearheading it to healthier, clearer waters, and everyone on the boat wants to go there too. And the beauty is that we become encouragers for each other on this boat despite the personal struggles we each encounter along the way- rough waters, rainy days, high wind, etc. Regardless, we come together for each other.
In one month alone, I’ve already had a couple groups of people join me in their
quest for greater health and accountability- and all for very different personal goals: weight loss, greater health, more consistency, rebooting their nutrition, shifting priorities to themselves and not others, increased strength and endurance, etc. I just couldn’t believe it. It’s
awesome when people come together.

In one month alone, I have tested and tried my own bravery
and courage again and again and again. And choosing bravery is a choice. But
it’s true- one brave and courageous decision after another creates momentum.
In one month alone, I have noticed personal health benefits
to kick my own health to the next level. I naturally aim for a healthy lifestyle, but sometimes we all get stagnant in our own lifestyles and I personally needed a
reboot. A reset. And I wanted the instant online accountability support system
to help get me there with a fitness and nutrition re-boost. Because for me- it’s the extrovert in me, positive and encouraging people, that always give me the extra umph.  And I know I’m not alone.
Boy it has been fun.
Plus, not only is the accountability such a key aspect, but
I’m also…
  • working from home
  • owning my own business
  • trying something new with my
    passions of health and wellness
  • building and rekindling friendships (near and
far) in the interest of health
  • creating a team atmosphere of support.

I have learned so much about myself and others in this last
month, and it has been so encouraging, refreshing, and supportive.
If you have an
interest in joining me in taking steps to reclaim your health, maybe reset your
fitness and nutrition, or even just shed some weight- let me know. I have
challenge/support/accountability groups every month.

We will work together and get you reaching your goals. Trust
me.

So let’s do this, month #2! Because I have more health goals
to reach.
